NBL23 championship hero Angus Glover is preparing to suit up for his first NBL off-season since 2019 this NBL1 season, and he heads to the Eltham Wildcats with both title-winning pedigree and lofty aspirations.
The last time the 24-year-old graced the NBL1 competition was as a member of the Centre of Excellence side in 2019 where he played alongside current Oklahoma City star Josh Giddey.
Glover was also set to play for Sutherland last season, before deciding to load manage and build his strength for the NBL23 season.
With his pair of NBL titles, Glover will bring a mentality of success to the NBL1 South side that also features Melbourne-based development player duo Owen Foxwell and Callum Dalton.
He already has lofty goals for his new side.“I want to win the NBL1 South and the national championship too,” Glover told the Sydney Kings website.
“I think we have the group that can go deep in the finals if we play how I know we can play as a group.”
Glover was poised to link up with the Wildcats for the 2020 season, but the Covid-cancellation of the season and a third serious knee injury saw that plan put on ice until this upcoming campaign.
Glover’s history of knee reconstructions has been well-documented over his NBL journey. The former Illawarra Hawk has undergone three knee reconstructions in his young career and currently has part of his father’s hamstring in one of his knees.
“Last year I was meant to play for Sutherland but the bone in my knee was playing up a bit,” he said.
“This year my body is feeling great – we have the best medical staff in Sydney that I’ll talk to on a regular basis while in Eltham.
“I signed with Eltham because I really care of their community and their junior pathways to the NBL1.”
