Anto Boyratan has made history by becoming the first Indonesian male athlete to sign in NBL1, committing to the Dandenong Rangers for the upcoming season.
The 23-year-old, 196cm forward from Makassar, South Sulawesi, has been a standout performer in Indonesia’s basketball scene for a couple of years, helping Pelita Jaya capture the 2024 IBL & IBL Oasis All-Indonesian Championship.
Boyratan also boasts a decorated collegiate career, having won multiple Liga Mahasiswa National Championships with Perbanas University and enjoying a breakout performance at the 2024 Pekan Olahraga Nasional Aceh with South Sulawesi.
“I've known Anto since he was a teenager back in his hometown, he is a tough competitor and has a great work ethic. This is a huge opportunity for Anto and a big step for Indonesian basketball,” Pelita Jaya’s Head Coach Johannis Winar said.
“We hope he can absorb all the knowledge, experience and competition in Australia, also may this move open more opportunities for emerging Indonesian players to cross the pond and play in Australia.”
Following his championship-winning season in Indonesia, Boyratan spent the last four months at Impact Basketball in Las Vegas, where he focused on elite-level training, skill development, and body transformation to prepare for the next level of competition.
“I’m honoured to sign with Dandenong Rangers and compete in NBL1 Australia,” Boyratan said.
“This is a huge step for my career, and I’m excited to challenge myself in a strong league while representing Indonesia on the international stage. My time at Impact Basketball Las Vegas has prepared me for this moment, and I’m ready to contribute to the team’s success.”
"Over the past few years NBL1 has built a strong relationship with Indonesia, and more specifically, with the team at Pelita Jaya. We are excited to see that evolve further this year, by having Anto Boyratan join the Dandenong Rangers for season 2025,” NBL1 GM Dean Anglin said.
