Six players from NBL1 South have been selected to represent the Australian Opals at the upcoming FIBA Women's Asia Cup. The Opals, who are currently ranked at the top of Group B, will kick off their campaign against the Philippines on Monday, June 26.
The selected players from NBL1 South include Amy Atwell from the Bendigo Braves, Chloe Bibby from the Frankston Blues, Keely Froling from the Launceston Tornadoes, Alice Kunek from the Nunawading Spectres, Chantel Horvat from the Geelong United Supercats and Anneli Maley from the Eltham Wildcats.
The FIBA Women's Asia Cup promises to be a thrilling tournament, showcasing the best basketball talent from across the region. After their opening match against the Philippines, the Opals will face Chinese Taipei on Tuesday, June 27, followed by a game against third-ranked Japan on Wednesday, June 28, to complete their pool games.
Following the pool matches, Thursday will serve as a well-deserved rest day for the teams. The tournament will then proceed with the finals taking place on Friday and Saturday, leading up to the highly anticipated medal games on Sunday, July 2.
