After a successful NBL23 season, Ben Ayre will join the Sandringham Sabres for the rest of the season.
Replacing the NBL1 South MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Shea Ili (due to ongoing concussion issues), the star guard will return to the NBL1 South competition.
In the 2019 NBL1 season, Ayre played for the inaugural NBL1 championship team the Nunawading Spectres and in the 2021 season he played for the Knox Raiders.
Last season with the NBL1 North Cairns Marlins, Ayre averaged 24 points with four assists and 3.7 rebounds for the Finals team.
