Hobart Chargers’ star Kayla Steindl has been the shining light for the Hobart Chargers all season, but this weekend will be a crucial one in turning their season around.
The Chargers sit 12th place on the ladder with a 5-7 record, with Steindl averaging 22.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
Last round included a painful 17-point loss against the roaring Eltham Wildcats in Tasmania, which snapped their two-game win streak.
But Steindl’s determination in their game at home caught the attention of NBL1 South expert Matt Hickey on the latest episode of The NBL1 Show.
“That is a monstrous effort on what was a pretty dark day for the team,” Hickey said.
Steindl put down 35 points in her 36-minute playing time and dropped over 50 percent of the buckets for her team.
She also recorded 10 rebounds and an assist to help narrow the margin as much as possible against the Wildcats.
“It was a tough day for Hobart against Eltham, they went down 68-85,” Hickey said.
“She [Steindl] scored over 50 percent of her teams’ points, that is really putting a solid on your back and doing all you can to get them across the line.”
