After a 2022 calendar year where Cayla George won a championship with the Melbourne Boomers, was named to the NBL1 North All-Star Five and won bronze at the FIBA Women’s World Cup in Sydney, she will now join the Las Vegas Aces for the coming WNBA season.
The 2021 NBL1 North MVP moved to Cairns last season, where she averaged 23 points, 16.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists for the Cairns Dolphins. Leading them to the first round where they lost to the undefeated regular-season team the Logan Thunder.

She joins a completely stacked roster with the Aces, including the likes of Candace Parker, two-time league MVP A’ja Wilson, All-WNBA first team player Kelsey Plum and last year’s WNBA finals MVP Chelsea Gray.
“The Aces liked what I was about at the World Cup on and off the court, they liked what I brought culturally to a group,” George told the Herald Sun.
“Their first question was ‘is this something you even want to do’ and they said ‘here’s what we see for you’.
“I’d never been approached like that by a team from the WNBA.
“I’m so overwhelmed with excitement for it and the opportunity to play on a super team and have a chance to win a WNBA championship.”
George last played in the WNBA with the Dallas Wings in 2018, where she averaged 3.6 points and 2.8 rebounds.
