The women's NBL1 West defending champions, the Cockburn Cougars, have signed WNBL talent Alex Ciabattoni for the 2024 NBL1 season.
Last season she played nine games in the NBL1 West, averaging 16.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals per game for the South West Slammers in a dual role as a coach and a player.
The former WNBL Rookie of the Year is currently with the Perth Lynx, where she's started seven games out of 18. Bringing her value as a veteran presence for the sixth team on the ladder.
Ciabattoni joins her Lynx teammate, reigning Best Defensive Player and Grand Final MVP, Steph Gorman, Jewel Williams and young guns Amelia Corasaniti, Kinley Paterson and Jaya Scafidi.
Ciabattoni said she's excited to join the championship team for 2024.
"After coaching last season I'm excited to return to NBL1 with the Cockburn Cougars," she told the Cougars.
"It's a great program to be part of especially coming off a championship last season. The team they have built is exciting and the club has such a great culture signing there really was an easy decision."
