NBL1 South All-Star Five member Steph Reid and NBL1 North champion and Second Team member Lara McSpadden will form a new dynamic duo on the Diamond Valley Eagles.
The pair became close friends playing together during their WNBL seasons with the Townsville Fire, winning the championship together during the 22-23 season.
Reunited and playing their first NBL1 season together, the pair will gel on the court well with Reid’s offensive gravity and playmaking in combination with McSpadden’s interior scoring.
Reid had a fantastic scoring campaign last year, averaging 28 points and 6.2 assists per game as the Frankston Blues’ go-to scorer. While McSpadden has spent the past four seasons with the Rockhampton Cyclones in the NBL1 North, making back-to-back Grand Finals and claiming the 2024 championship last season.
Last season the Eagles finished 12th on the ladder with a 9-13 record, led by WNBL rising star Abbey Ellis. The two new recruits alongside the re-signed Ellis will form a high-level trio to skyrocket the Eagles' potential in 2025.
The NBL1 South season starts on March 29th. Stay up-to-date with all the latest signings via the Roster Tracker here.
