The Maitland Mustangs have announced that homegrown star and fan favourite Jack Edwards has signed on for the inaugural NBL1 East season.
A veteran of the Mustangs program, and still only 26 years old, Edwards leads from the front with his tenacity, speed and toughness and has been one of the leading two-way guards in the Waratah League for a number of seasons.
Edwards is coming off another strong all-round 2021 campaign in Waratah League, averaging 11.6 points, 4.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game.
After starting as a development player with the senior men's team in 2013, Edwards is coming into his ninth season with the group.
"I can't wait to go around again with the Mustangs, and am expecting big things from our young up and coming players," Edwards said.
When asked about Jack's re-signing, coach Luke Boyle said: "Jack lifts the energy of our team every time he is on the floor.
"He is a crucial part of our squad who although is still young, provides a great deal of leadership."
