Eight NBL1 players have been selected to represent the Australian Boomers in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
The FIBA World Cup Qualiffers will be hosted in Melbourne from June 30 - July 4 with the Boomers playing on home soil for the first time since winning the bronze in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Four of the eight NBL1 players will be making their green and gold debut, with Hobart Chargers’ Sam McDaniel, USC Rip City’s and NBL22 Champion Wani Swaka Lo Buluk, Northside Wizards’ Keanu Pinder and Geelong Supercats’ Jack White all debuting as Boomers in this tournament.
While Rockhampton Rocket’s Todd Blanchfield, Townsville Heat’s Sam Froling, Northside Wizards’ Mitch McCarron and North Gold Coast Seahawks’ Jack McVeigh have all donned the green and gold before, the NBL1 will be well represented in Melbourne come the Qualifiers.
Having represented Australia at junior competitions, Jack White is ready for the opportunity to step up and officially be a Boomer in his home state of Victoria.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to represent the Boomers ever since I started taking basketball seriously. I’ve been fortunate enough to represent Australia three times at junior and university events, there is nothing that comes close to the feeling of wearing the green and gold and playing for your country,” White said.
“I’m so excited for the opportunity to represent the Boomers at this event, especially on home soil in front of Australian fans, friends and family and I know it will be a special moment I’ll never forget.”
The Boomers will face Japan and China on John Cain Arena in Melbourne. Tickets are available at Ticketek.
