Tara Girardi, a 20-year-old centre, has re-signed with Norwood for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 Central season.
Girardi has come through the junior ranks at Norwood, starting in Under 14s and coming right through now to NBL1.
Speaking about the upcoming season, Girardi said: "I’m really excited to get the season started with this great group of girls."
Last year, Girardi found herself as a player, carving out a significant role with the team in the second half of the season.
Her offensive game has developed well, scoring inside out of the post and also working pick and roll play with Norwood's guards.
In 2021, she averaged 8.2 points and 3.5 rebounds, with a season-high of 18 coming against the Central Districts.
Coach Terry McNamara had this to say about Girardi: "Tara is an exciting talent who made enormous progress in the back half of the 2021 season.
"She is a strong, athletic player with a great work ethic and commitment to the team.
"Tara is a player who has developed and ascended through our junior program, and we are looking forward to more great things to come."
With Girardi and Alek Akuen signed, both players bring different elements to the centre position and complement each other well.
