The NBL1 South’s Sandringham Sabres escaped with a 72-71 win against the Ringwood Hawks last night, continuing their winning streak to make it 11-straight heading into tonight.
Losing their first two games of the season, the Sabres have gone on a tear since – sitting third on the ladder and averaging 78 points per game.

Their most notable win was in April, when they handed the National Champions and then-undefeated Bendigo Braves their first loss in over a year, snapping a 33-0 streak.
One of the major standouts in this streak has been Eilidh Simpson, averaging 10.3 points and a team-high 3.8 assists per game.
Simpson said their streak has been a product of their chemistry.
“Focusing on one game at a time. We have an experienced group who know how to win,” she said post-game.
“We enjoy each other's company and have fun together. We play for each other and just want to win.”
Heading into the final night of Round 9, the Sabres will head over to Waverley to take on the Falcons. Simpson warned that the team will have to stay vigilant after their taxing win last night.
“Waverley has some very talented individual players that we will focus on defensively. We will continue to play our game and look to keep improving,” she said.
“It’s going to be a tough game after a hard-fought win against Ringwood.”
