The Hobart Chargers have announced their first big signing for the women’s program, with Brooke Johnson putting pen to paper for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 South season.
A 6-0 guard, Johnson developed her game in her hometown of Hanford, California, before taking her game to the next level at UNLV.
Becoming a lockdown defender across the entire Mountain West Conference, Johnson secured two All-Mountain West Defensive Team Honours, as well as the Mountain Weste Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.
With the ability to shine brightly on both ends of the court, Johnson participated in WNBA Training Camp with the Las Vegas Aces before heading to Europe to play for Panionios Athens in the 2018-19 season.
In Greece, Johnson would assert herself on the competition, earning first-team all defence honours as well as being selected as the Defensive Player of the Year.
After a stint in Turkey, Johnson would once again return to Greece where another stellar season in 2019-20 (this time for Kronos AD) would see her voted as the guard of the year whilst also being selected to the All-League, All Defence, and All Import first teams respectively.
In her most recent season in Greece, Johnson suited up for powerhouse Panathinaikos Athens.
Following a tremendous showing in Greece, Johnson has been playing with Boras Basket in Sweden where she has once again displayed her elite level of play on both ends of the floor.
With such a well-rounded game and tenacity on the defensive end, Chargers fans should be excited to see what Brooke Johnson is able to bring both on and off the floor to the team in the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 South Season.
