Tasmanian-born product Kye Savage will return home, signing with the NBL1 South’s North West Thunder for the 2025 season.
After spending the past two seasons in the NBL1 East with the Centre of Excellence, he now returns to his former club. Last season Savage was awarded the Youth Player of the Year, averaging 13.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists for the finals team.
Off the back of his award-winning season, the NBL’s Brisbane Bullets signed Savage to a three-year contract. In NBL25, he’s played in two games so far against the Sydney Kings and Illawarra Hawks.
Last playing for the Thunder in the 2023 season, chairman James Leslie is excited for Savage’s return to his home club.
"With Thunder proving its status as a true development program, it's wonderful to see players like Kye finding their way into the elite areas of our sport nationally,” he said.
“We are thrilled that he's chosen to return home and represent the North West again, and can't wait to see him light up the floor with his athleticism and speed".
“He’s a great local success story and has a genuine passion to help juniors so we are looking forward to him being back here and contributing to basketball in general.”
