Forestville Eagles star Maddy Freer will continue a proud family history with the Adelaide Lightning this coming WNBL season.
She carries the legacy of her mother, Debbie Freer (née Giles, née Copley), who’s synonymous with Adelaide Lightning’s history – part of the inaugural championship-winning team in 1994, the start of a three-peat into 1995 and 1996.
Freer was named the NBL1 Central Merv Harris Medal winner (Women's U23) this past season, with a season average of 13.1 points, 8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
She led the injured Eagles to the Central Grand Final, where they fell short to the Central Districts Lions 67-79.
The Lightning will show off their star-studded team in Perth at HoopsFest, from September 19-22. Make sure to get your tickets here.
