The 2024 season was one of small strides for the NBL1 Central’s Eastern Mavericks, as they won two more games than the previous season with a core of young Adelaide products.
In 2025, they want to take that improvement to the next level, indicated by a major recruitment drive, bringing in three players from different conferences to kickstart a finals push.
Their first signing was Jackson Bowden, a former Mavericks junior who spent last season with the South Australian-based Mount Gambier Pioneers in the NBL1 South. Playing 14 games last season, the 18-year-old was mentored by Coach of the Year Richard Hill and conference MVP Nick Marshall during their campaign to the Semi-Finals.
Their next signing was Diamond Valley’s BJ Symons, who averaged 12 points per game for the Eagles in the highly competitive NBL1 South.
Their latest signing was high-flyer Dominic Jackson, who’s a contender to make the top 10 plays each week with his jaw-dropping athleticism. Last season with the NBL1 West’s Lakeside Lightning he averaged 11.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and an assist per game for the 10th placed team.

Alongside re-signing four players from last season including leading scorer Owen Raneberg, assist leader Freddy Webb as well as Lachie Hunter and Micale Mee, the Mavericks are set for a major jump new year.
