The Maitland Mustangs have signed Rachel Williams, Terrell Turner and James Hunter for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 East season.
Williams has represented the Mustangs right through since U12s and is one of their most talented local prospects.
She is coming off a strong 2021 campaign in the Waratah League 1, averaging 10.2 points, 2.4 steals and 2.5 assists.
Coming into her fourth straight season with the senior women's team, Williams will be a major contributor for the group and also a key leader and role model for their young guns coming through the ranks into the team.
When asked about the upcoming season, Williams said: "I am excited to go around another year with Maitland.
"The culture around the club is awesome and we have some skillful young players coming through.
"It’ll be great to experience playing in a league like the NBL1 with the girls!"
Turner is entering his tenth season with the Mustangs and has found a secnd home after arriving in the Hunter in 2013.
He has given the Mustangs fans plenty to cheer about over the past nine seasons, with countless game-winners and clutch baskets generating some famous wins for the team over his tenure.
When asked about Turner's signing, coach Luke Boyle said: "Terrell has been a huge contributor to our team for the past nine years.
"His leadership, commitment and selflessness have been a big part of our program's improvement."
Born in Nowra, Hunter brings a wealth of experience to Maitland's men's team for the upcoming season, having played in the NBL for New Zealand Breakers and South East Melbourne, the NZNBL, Spain and has also represented the Tall Blacks.
Boasting a 6'10 frame, Hunter provides a key piece for the Mustangs at both the offensive and defensive end in the paint.
Coach Boyle said: "We are so happy to have James join us.
"He is a great player who has experience at a professional level including international with NZ.
"James is a 6'10" versatile scorer and rebounder.
"He is an extremely positive guy who will be great for our culture and provide a good role model to our younger players."
When asked about his signing and the upcoming season, Hunter said: "I am very excited to be joining the mighty Mustangs for this year's first NBL1 East competition.
"They have a great culture in place already so I'm looking forward to being a part of that and working towards a championship.
"I grew up playing basketball in country NSW so I am pumped to get back in that setting."
