Round 12 of NBL1 Central saw breakout wins and performances from some of the league’s best while two classic Sturt versus Forestville games headlined the tight finishes of the evening along with Panther Escape II.

Levy-up Mavericks get second win of season
Tayla Levy played the game of her short career to help the Eastern Mavericks piece together all pieces of their puzzle as they smacked the Woodville Warriors 100-57 at St Francis. Levy levelled up for 35 points at 66 percent with four triples, 10 assists and six rebounds with Jannon Otto returning from a short injury lay-off with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists and Olivia Bradley continuing her recent form with 19 points and six rebounds and two blocks.
Flames resist triple onslaught Tigers to take tight win
Ally Wilson and Jada Rice drove the takedown from the front seat of the Flames vehicle as they motored them to a high octane 72-77 win over the Southern Tigers at the Cage. Wilson collected 24 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals while Rice had her best game of the season amassing 14 points, 21 rebounds and two blocks. Sharna Thompson added 14 points to the scoring in the second half to finish with 20 points to add more pain to the Tiger wounds.
Tigers Brittany Hernandez (19 points, nine rebounds and four assists) and Bianca Stasinowsky (15 points all triples and 14 rebounds) kept the scoreboard ticking over for the home side but Morgan Yaeger threatened along with the rest of the team to take out the Flames from the three-point arc as they rained in 13 triples. Yaeger finishing with 17 points, 6 rebounds and finished with another quarter time buzzer beater…
United Sabres claw victory from the Eagles wings of defeat – again…
On their heritage night the “United Church” Sturt Sabres clawed victory from the wings of the Forestville Eagles 66-65 to avoid defeat again – making it 14 wins without a blemish. Mikayla Williams finished with 22 points and 17 rebounds in a game where the margin went only beyond a couple of baskets.
The finish was frantic as the Sabres escaped again…
Panther Escape II: Sequel just as good as original over luckless Lions
The sequel was just as good as the original with the South Adelaide Panthers escaping from the Central Districts Lions in the final seconds again 86-83 at the Jungle. Daniel Johnson’s 35 point and nine rebound return steered the Panthers into the lead with minutes left after the Lions Branden Jenkins reeled off 29 points, four rebounds, steals and assists to give his team a 13-point lead in the final quarter.

Canadian college graduate and master of the tomahawk in NBL1 Central Isaac Miller-Jose punctured this one into his opponents in his Norwood Flames 82-99 win over the Southern Tigers.

Eagles fly in final stanza to hold off United Sturt
Greg Mays flew the Eagles home after the “United Church” Sturt ran down their initial 15 point lead in the second quarter to win an important split and jump ahead into second place by two wins 84-90 at the Cave in Springbank. Mays accumulated 21 points and nine rebounds including nailing the game sealing free throws. Adam Doyle (19 points and five assists) and Brad Rathjen (19 points and five assists) both hit seven of the Eagles eleven triples between them to hold off Sturt’s Jordan Forbes with 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists and Keanu Rasmussen with a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
