The back-to-back NBL1 East MVP Nicole Munger has re-signed with the championship-winning Newcastle Falcons for the 2025 season.
After another standout campaign, Munger will return to Newcastle for her fourth season with the club. She has quickly become a fan favourite in the NBL1 East, averaging 24.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, four assists and 2.4 steals this past season.
She led the Falcons back to the finals, finishing the regular season fourth on the ladder. Newcastle handed Albury-Wodonga their first loss of the season in the Preliminary Finals and roared through to beat Sutherland in the Grand Final – being named the Finals MVP.
In a recent interview with ESPN, Munger revealed she suffered bouts of long COVID and pneumonia throughout the NBL1 East and current WNBL season – making her spectacular finals run all the more impressive.
Upon signing, Munger explained she cannot wait to rejoin the group ahead of the season launch on March 29th.
“I’m so excited to be returning to Newcastle for the 2025 season! There’s nothing like the energy of the Falcons fans and the bond we have as a team,” she told the Falcons.
“Defending our championship title is a challenge we’re ready to take on together, and I can’t wait to hit the court and try to help make it happen.
“I’m especially looking forward to officially raising the championship banner at our first home game – it will be an unforgettable moment to celebrate and honour last year’s squad. I look forward to seeing all our fans there!”
