After a stellar NBL1 North season, Jaylin Galloway has roared into NBL24 with an impressive 18 points in the starting line-up against the Illawarra Hawks.
The NBL1 North Youth Player of the Year was one of Ipswich’s key pieces in their championship season, averaging 18 points per game and scoring 54 points across the three-game Grand Final Series against the Gold Coast Rollers.
Galloway filled the starting line-up with injuries to DJ Hogg and leapt into a leading role, impressing new Kings head coach Mahmoud Abdelfattah.
“We’re going to rely on JG to be the elite defender he is,” Abdelfattah said post-game.
“I think JG is probably the best defensive player in the league.
“All the guys have prepared and it doesn’t go by the wayside. They’re willing to be coached, they accept everything, they’re held accountable and they hold themselves accountable.
“That’s what it leads to – victory.”
Off the bench, USC Rip City superstar and NBL1 North First Team member Kouat Noi dropped 23 points in 17 minutes repeating his role as an elite scorer for the second unit.
While NBL1 East All-Star Five member Alex Toohey also filled a slot in the starting line-up, finishing the game with eight points, five rebounds and three steals.
