A triple-double from the remarkable Kelly Wilson kept the Bendigo Braves undefeated while Angus Glover hit seven threes to help do the same for the Eltham Wildcats in Sunday's NBL1 South action.
There was just the one venue in action on Sunday as ANZAC Round in the NBL1 South continued with the Bendigo Braves women beating the Eltham Wildcats 73-64 before the Wildcats defeated the Braves 91-72 in the men's encounter.
WOMEN
Wilson's triple-double helps keep Bendigo unbeaten
Sunday's lone women's NBL1 South clash saw the Bendigo Braves maintain their undefeated start to the season with the eventual 73-64 win over the Eltham Wildcats.
The Braves have had a scintillating start to the season and have added in Perth Lynx WNBL star Amy Atwell over the past week too as they headed to Montmorency Secondary College to take on the Wildcats on Sunday.
In the end, the Braves just had too many weapons and it was all pulled together by Kelly Wilson who finished the afternoon with a triple-double consisting of 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists for Bendigo to improve to 6-0 after the opening three rounds of the season.
The Wildcats did battle hard to only lose by the nine points but as a result they do slip to a 1-3 record on the season.
MEN
Glover catches fire to help keep Eltham undefeated
It was the Eltham Wildcats men who were the ones trying to keep their winning form going on Sunday and with Angus Glover on fire, they were able to do just that beating the Bendigo Braves 91-72.
The Wildcats came into the match up having won their first three matches of the season while the Braves were looking to hit back after losing four of their first five matches including going down to the Casey Cavaliers on Friday night by 32 points.
The task was ahead of the Braves if they were able to return to the winner's list and it wasn’t made any easier when two-time Sydney Kings NBL championship winner Angus Glover caught fire.
He would end up hitting seven three-pointers for the afternoon for Eltham and put up 30 points to be instrumental in the eventual 19-point victory that improves his team to a 4-0 record to start the NBL1 South season.
He got plenty of support too including Callum Dalton scoring 14 points for the Wildcats with Owen Foxwell starting on fire with 12 points in the first quarter, and finishing the match with 18.
It was another tough loss for Bendigo as they slip to a 1-5 record on the season but Lat Mayen did what he could. Fresh off his NBL season at the Cairns Taipans, Mayen delivered 22 points and nine rebounds for the Braves.
