The 2024 NBL1 West MVP Teige Morrell has been elevated to a full roster spot with the WNBL’s Perth Lynx for the coming 2024-2025 WNBL season.
After another NBL1 West First Team season with the Joondalup Wolves in 2023, Morrell was given a development player spot with Ryan Petrik’s Lynx last season.
Impressing the team in seven games with 4.9 points and three rebounds per game average, she’s gone on to have a record-breaking season with the Lakeside Lightning – winning her second NBL1 MVP.

After their Grand Final appearance last season, the now permanent resident is excited to stay in Western Australia and run it back.
“I am beyond excited to be joining the Lynx as a fully-rostered player this year,” Morrell told the Lynx.
“Last season was an incredible experience learning under coach Ryan (Petrik) and being surrounded by an amazingly talented and fun group of girls who got so close to a championship.
“This is the place I knew I wanted to be. I can’t wait to get back at it again and help the team in any way I can as we pursue a championship this year."
NBL1 National Championship coach Ryan Petrik has a close eye on the NBL1 West, saying he’s excited to give Morrell this full opportunity.
“Teige spent all last season training with us, and stepping into the team for us when Aari went down injured. And when she did get to play, she more than held her own,” Petrik said.
“Teige has continued to expand her game in the off-season, and we’ve seen plenty to know she’s able to make an immediate impact for us.”
Morrell’s Lightning have advanced to the Semi Finals, where they’ll face the Warwick Seantors. Tune in on Thursday night, from 7:00pm AEST live via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App.
