The Indian National Basketball League (INBL) Select Team will begin its tour of Australia this week playing against select NBL1 teams.
The action starts Tuesday as the INBL will take on the Waverley Falcons at 8:00pm AEDT. On Thursday they’ll take on the Eltham Wildcats at 7:30pm AEDT and on Sunday they’ll head down to Frankston to take on the Blues from 2:00pm AEDT.
The CEO of INBL, Parveen Batish, said this tour allows the INBL and NBL1 to share the love of basketball and help prepare the Indian national team for the coming Olympics.
"This tour is a wonderful opportunity for the INBL and NBL1 to come together in the spirit of Love for basketball,” Batish said.
“We believe it will be an exceptional learning experience and a great way to celebrate the global passion for basketball. This is another step towards INBL’s vision to bring international spotlight to Indian basketball talent and a step closer to preparing India to participate in the Olympics."
General Manager of NBL1, Dean Anglin, said the league is excited to welcome the INBL for a weekend of competitive basketball action.
“We are always excited to welcome teams from around the world in a spirit of cultural exchange and basketball philosophy,” Anglin said.
“This is a great opportunity for our NBL1 teams to come up against different styles of play and play competitive games in the pre-season build-up.”
