In a historic Round 13 for the WNBL, it was a menagerie of NBL1 stars lighting up the league.
Check out how some of them went below:
NBL1 North MVP continues to dominate in the WNBL
In the WNBL’s record-breaking game for attendance, Tiana Mangakahia broke the hearts of Southside Flyers fans with an NBL1 North-like stat line of 26 points, six assists and five rebounds in the one-point win on the road.
The NBL1 North MVP has taken the reigns of the Sydney Flames after Shyla Heal’s departure to the Townsville Fire. Since Round 11, Mangakahia has averaged 18 points, 6.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds – an increase of eight points and 4.7 assists per game since becoming the lead guard.
Mangakahia’s Northside Wizards are looking dangerous for the 2023 NBL1 North season, signing NBL1 National Finalists Lil Dart and Nadeen Payne, collegiate star Georgia Dale and NBL1 North champion Courtney Woods to join Mangakahia this coming season starting on March 25.
Courtney Woods is on fire
Speaking of Courtney Woods, she was named to the WNBL’s team of the week with an average of 21 points in two wins over the Perth Lynx. The NBL1 North champion will be on warmed-up coming into the 2023 season with the Northside Wizards.
Alongside Mount Gambier’s latest signing Zitina Aoukso and the re-signed Steph Reid, the second on the ladder Townsville Fire are seemingly set for a title run with the addition of Shyla Heal.
Joondalup will be scary with the new and improved Robbi Ryan
After being named to the NBL1 West All-Star Five, Robbi Ryan continues to get better in her debut WNBL season with the Perth Lynx.
Almost matching her NBL1 West average in Round 13, under National Finals championship coach Ryan Petrik, Robbi Ryan has become one of the Lynx’s best pieces this season.
Ryan averaged 18.5 points against Townsville in Round 13 and should be set for a massive 2023 NBL1 season with the Wolves, alongside her partner in crime Teige Morrell starting on March 31.
