The North Adelaide Rockets have announced that both Brenton Johnston and Dean Nyberg will be continuing on as their NBL1 Central head coaches for the 2022 season.
Johnston has a wealth of experience which he brings into the women’s program.
He has coached for many years, including both the girls' and boys' sides of the junior program.
Prior to this current role, Johnston was an NBL1 assistant coach at North Adelaide, assistant coach at Norwood Basketball Club and head coach at Eastern Mavericks before he returned home to North Adelaide.
Over the years he has taken North Adelaide women’s team through to multiple grand finals, including an undefeated season in 2018.
Johnston has also been a head coach and assistant coach within the SA State team and high-performance program.
In the 2021 season, despite everything thrown at Johnston and the team, they pulled together, worked hard and went through to another Grand Final.
Nyberg brings his experience and analytical strength to the role returning from being the 2021 NBL1 Central championship coach.
Previously, he was a successful head coach of the Southern Tigers NBL1 men’s team, taking them to two championships and also had success winning Reserves and Youth League titles.
Nyberg has been a long-time coach at Sturt as well as a head coach and assistant coach within the SA state team & high-performance program.
