The Mount Gambier Pioneers have started the off-season strong, locking in both their head coaches for their 2025 campaign.
The 2024 NBL1 South men’s Coach of the Year, Richard Hill and the 2022 women’s Coach of the Year, Matt Sutton (on a new three-year deal) will both continue into next season.
The men’s Pioneers finished first on the ladder while the women’s finished fourth, with the men’s reaching the Semi Final and the women’s team reaching the Preliminary Final.
The Pioneers have been a stalwart of success since their introduction to the NBL1 South, making the finals in every season – with the men’s side reaching the Grand Final in 2022.
Club President, Tom Kosch said that for both Hill and Sutton to recommit is an outstanding achievement for the Pioneers' planning and strengthening of the Club’s programs.
“Richard has given so much to our Basketball Club allowing us to proudly become one of the most successful regional sporting teams in Australia,” Kosch said.
''Matt has been outstanding during his time as Head Coach and continues to remain passionate and motivated for the further development of our women’s program.
“To have Matt recommit for three years is massive for our club’s planning and shaping our programs ready for further success.”
