Jason Cadee had a triple-double for Gold Coast in Sunday's NBL1 North while Tyrell Harrison starred for Southern Districts Spartans while there were women's wins for the South West Metro Pirates and Spartans.
The two Sunday women's NBL1 North matches saw the South West Metro Pirates beat the Gold Coast Rollers 79-73 and the Southern Districts Spartans defeated the Sunshine Coast Phoenix 77-53.
Then in the men's fixtures, Gold Coast defeated South West Metro 111-94 and Southern Districts won 85-78 against Sunshine Coast.

Gold Coast Rollers (73) lost to South West Metro Pirates (79)
The South West Metro Pirates started their season with the come from behind road win on Sunday 79-73 against the Gold Coast Rollers
It was the first game of the NBL1 North season for South West Metro with Gold Coast having played away to Ipswich on Saturday and claiming the 13-point victory.
After a close opening quarter with Gold Coast narrowly leading by a point at quarter-time, the Pirates took charge in the second period with 21 points to eight including scoring 10 straight points to go into the long break leading 44-32.
The Rollers weren’t about to go down without a fight in their home opener and went on a 12-0 run of their own in the third quarter to reclaim the lead briefly.
It wouldn’t last for long, though, with South West Metro having the answers in the final period to claim the six-point win and open up the new season in winning fashion.
Leah Scott delivered 20 points, 15 rebounds and three assists in the win for the Pirates on 7/11 shooting with Jasmin Howe contributing 20 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Bronte Corke also had 11 points and two assists, and Allanah Anthony hit three triples for nine points and two assists.
Gold Coast couldn’t quite make it back-to-back wins to open the season despite Taylor Lee putting up another 26 points and six assists.
Lisa Koop added 14 points and 11 rebounds, Edina Chisalita 14 points and four boards, and Tayla Cendamo nine points and two rebounds.

Sunshine Coast Phoenix (53) lost to Southern Districts Spartans (77)
The Southern Districts Spartans bounced back from a Saturday night loss to open their account for 2024 beating the Sunshine Coast Phoenix 77-53 on Sunday.
The Spartans faced a stern test first up on Saturday against the defending champion Northside Wizards and they did lose at home by 25 points, but they had a chance to quickly put that behind them on the road to the Phoenix.
Sunshine Coast were playing a first game of 2024 and hosted the Spartans at Maroochydore Stadium, but it was Southern Districts in control virtually from the outset.
The Spartans opened up an eight-point lead already by quarter-time having held the home team to just eight points. But Sunshine Coast did well to keep in touch in the second quarter and by half-time the Spartans had only extended their lead to 34-27.
Southern Districts did continue to pull away further as the second half unfolded, though, outscoring Sunshine Coast 43 points to 26 to claim the 24-point win.
Kalani Purcell produced 16 points, seven rebounds, five blocks, three steals and two assists in the win for Southern Districts with Alice Dart adding 16 points and two steals.
Maddy Allen also had 15 points and four assists, Ariana Moorer 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals, and Perth Lynx WNBL star Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard seven points and nine rebounds.
Carlie Smith put up 21 points and nine rebounds for Sunshine Coast with Haylee Andrews contributing 13 points and six assists, and Grace Rodgers five points and nine rebounds.

Gold Coast Rollers (111) defeated South West Metro Pirates (94)
The Gold Coast Rollers ensured it started the season with two wins in less than 24 hours with Jason Cadee putting up a triple-double in the 111-94 home win against the South West Metro Pirates.
On the back of winning the 2022 championship and then losing last year's Grand Final, Gold Coast opened the 2024 season winning the Grand Final rematch against the Ipswich Force on the road on Saturday night.
That set them up to host the Pirates at Carrara Stadium on Sunday afternoon with South West Metro making their first appearance of the 2024 season.
The Pirates came out starting well too with 26 points to 24 in the first quarter, but Gold Coast soon took control in the second frame with 33 points to 19 to go into half-time leading 57-45.
From there Gold Coast would lead by as much as 19 points in the second half on the back of scoring 13 consecutive points on the way to the eventual 17-point win to improve to 2-0 after the opening round.
Reigning MVP and 393-game NBL veteran Jason Cadee has started the NBL1 North season on fire again with Gold Coast putting up a Sunday triple-double made up of 28 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists with 12/12 free-throw shooting.
Elijah Kamu put up another 26 points and seven rebounds with Tidjane Diop contributing 18 points and four boards, Boston Mazlin 17 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, and Daniel Titus 11 points, seven boards and five assists.
Brendan Teys opened the new season with South West Metro by producing 28 points on 12/22 shooting from the field.
Kai Woodfall added 24 points, three assists and two rebounds, Lamar Patterson 18 points, nine boards, six assists and four steals, and Roman Siulepa 11 points and nine rebounds.

With Tyrell Harrison continuing his career-best form this past NBL season, the Southern Districts Spartans got on the board in 2024 with the 85-78 road victory on Sunday against the Sunshine Coat Phoenix.
The Spartans opened the season on Friday night with a narrow home loss to the Northside Wizards ahead of being on the road at Maroochydore Stadium to the Phoenix on Sunday afternoon.
It was a first game of the season for Sunshine Coast but Southern Districts started the better leading by eight points in the first term, but that was just one at quarter-time.
It remained a tight contest and no more than nine points ever separated the two teams throughout the afternoon, but the Spartans did continue to cling to a slender advantage and the Phoenix couldn’t quite close the gap.
Southern Districts went on to win by seven to open their account for 2024 with Tyrell Harrison starring on the back of what he did this past NBL season for the Brisbane Bullets.
He put up 28 points, 10 rebounds and two assists on 12/14 from the floor.
Jarred Bairstow also had 14 points and nine rebounds fresh off winning an NBL championship at the Tasmania JackJumpers and former Perth Wildcats guard Corey Shervill had 12 points, 13 rebounds and two steals.
Darnell Robateau top-scored for Sunshine Coast with 20 points on 3/6 three-point shooting with Kobe McDowell-White contributing 18 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals, and Jamaal Robateau 14 points, five boards, three steals and two assists.
