Miela Goodchild again starred for the North Gold Coast Seahawks as did Nathaniel Salmon with Kody and Ky Stattmann again firing for the Cairns Marlins and Nadeen Payne helping the Northside Wizards stay unbeaten in NBL1 North.
In the two women's Round 5 matches to open Round 5, the North Gold Coast Seahawks beat the Sunshine Coast Phoenix 88-64 and the Northside Wizards defeated the Cairns Dolphins 101-51.
The men's matches then featured the Seahawks defeating the Phoenix 90-86 and the Cairns Marlins beating the Wizards 90-81.

WOMEN
North Gold Coast Seahawks (88) defeated Sunshine Coast Phoenix (64)
Miela Goodchild continued her hot form this NBL1 North season with the help of Mikhaela Ruef to score the 88-64 victory at home over the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.
The Seahawks came into the match up at Runaway Bay Stadium having won four of five games so far this season ahead of hosting the winless Phoenix.
It was a big test for Sunshine Coast especially with the form Goodchild has been in on the back of her breakout WNBL season at the Perth Lynx and with Ruef thriving on her move to the Seahawks after another WNBL season at the Townsville Fire.
However, the Phoenix started tremendously to open up a nine-point lead in the first quarter and to go on to still be in front 23-18 by quarter-time.
Even though the Seahawks were able to outscore the Phoenix 21 points to 18 in the second quarter, it was still Sunshine Coast leading at the half 41-39 hunting that first win of the season.
The Seahawks, though, were able to work on top in the third quarter with 24 points to 15 to assume the lead, and then went on with the job in the final period with another 25 points to eight.
That saw North Gold Coast go on to score the 24-point win to improve to 5-1 on the season with Miela Goodchild outstanding again with another 34 points, six rebounds and four assists on the back of shooting 13/24 from the floor and 7/8 at the foul line.
Mikhaela Ruef delivered another 18 points, 25 rebounds, seven assists and two steals for the Seahawks with Grace Champion contributing 11 points and four boards, and Majella Carey eight points, eight rebounds and four assists on 4/4 shooting.
Nicola Handreck put up 16 points, three steals and two assists for Sunshine Coast on 5/10 three-point shooting with Haylee Andrews contributing 15 points, nine assists and five rebounds, and Amy Browne 10 points and three boards.
Both teams back up to play again on Saturday with the Seahawks away to the Ipswich Force while the Phoenix host the Cairns Dolphins.

Northside Wizards (101) defeated Cairns Dolphins (51)
The defending champion Northside Wizards continued the hot start to their championship defence beating the Cairns Dolphins at home 101-51.
It's been a tough start to the season for the Dolphins with the four losses to date by an average of 36.8 points and Friday night was always going to be a challenge starting the road double against the Wizards at Northside Indoor Sports Centre.
Already by quarter-time and Northside had opened up a double-figure lead with the 31-20 advantage before they completed a 17-0 scoring run to be leading by 27 in the second term.
The Wizards would go into half-time leading 58-31 on the back of that and then the defending champions continued to push away the longer the second half went.
Northside's lead got out to 47 points with the home team outscoring Cairns 27 points to seven and then eventually the Wizards won by 50 to improve to a perfect 6-0 record in their championship defence.
Nadeen Payne delivered another 24 points, three rebounds and two assists in the win for the Wizards with AJ Johnson putting up 22 points, seven boards, four assists and two steals.
Erin Bollmann also had 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals, Kelsey McDermott 10 points, and Saskia Gunness eight points and 12 rebounds.
It was another tough night for the now 0-5 Dolphins with Leichan Williams battling hard once more for 13 points and eight rebounds on 5/9 shooting.
Teyahna Bond also had 10 points, three assists and three steals, and Emma Nakamura seven points and three rebounds.
Cairns remains on the road on Saturday night against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix with the Wizards on the road to the Gold Coast Rollers.

North Gold Coast Seahawks (90) defeated Sunshine Coast Phoenix (86)
It took a massive last quarter but the North Gold Coast Seahawks ran over the top of the Sunshine Coast Phoenix to claim the 90-86 victory at home.
The Seahawks were home at Runaway Bay Stadium looking to make it consecutive wins for the first time this season up against a Phoenix on a three-game winning streak.
The contest certainly delivered as well and it was Sunshine Coast clinging to the 27-26 lead by quarter-time before the Phoenix started to pull away in the second term.
The lead for the visitors got out to eight points and that was the difference at half-time with the Phoenix on top 51-43.
Sunshine Coast even pushed out to an 11-point lead in the third period and were still up by that margin early in the fourth, but North Gold Coast gradually whittled away that deficit.
It was a Matt Kenyon offensive rebound and putback with 3:45 to go that put the Seahawks back in front before Kane Bishop extended the advantage before four quick points to Cameron Healy helped get it out to seven.
North Gold Coast went on to win by four having been down 11 earlier in the last quarter with Nathaniel Salmon starring with 28 points and eight rebounds.
Cameron Healy also delivered 25 points, five rebounds and four assists with Matt Kenyon adding 10 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, Jaze Morris nine points and two boards, and Kane Bishop nine points, six rebounds and two assists.
It was a frustrating loss for Sunshine Coast after leading most of the night with Nelson Kahler putting up 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Kobe McDowell-White 21 points, eight assists and three rebounds.
Jamaal Robateau also had 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals, Jeryn Lucas 12 points, two boards and two steals, and Liam Switzer 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Kody and Ky Stattmann combined for another 55 points to lead the Cairns Marlins to the 90-81 victory over the Northside Wizards to start their road double.
Cairns was starting its double-header this weekend on the road looking to snap a two-game losing slide while the Wizards came into the contest at Northside Indoor Sports Centre also having lost their past three.
It would prove to be a tight contest throughout the first half with the Wizards leading by just a point at quarter-time but the Marlins worked on top through the second period and would be up as much as seven, and be leading 44-38 by the half-time interval.
Northside started the second half well to briefly grab the lead but then Cairns took back control and the lead got out to 12 points late in the third quarter.
The Marlins would complete a 15-0 run in the fourth term too to end up leading by 18 points before then holding out the Wizards for the nine-point victory to improve to 3-2 on the season.
It was the Stattmann brothers again starring in the win for Cairns with Kody finishing with 30 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists, and Ky 25 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Alex Mudronja also had 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists with Kian Dennis contributing 12 points, 13 boards and two blocked shots.
New Cairns Taipans NBL signing Jackson Makoi put up 24 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals with Jamie Ahale adding 23 points and two boards, and Lual Diing 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Cairns remains on the road on Saturday night against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix with the Wizards on the road to the Gold Coast Rollers.
