Melbourne Tigers (70) lost to Keilor Thunder (77)
Keilor Thunder dug deep without Maddy Rocci to overcome the Melbourne Tigers 77-70 in overtime with Tera Reed stepping up to score 24 points.
The Tigers were back home at Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre looking to back up last week's win against the Nunawading Spectres while Keilor arrived in top spot having won six straight and having kept that going even minus Rocci.
She was again absent on Saturday night while in China with the Australian Opals and it turned out being a tremendous contest between the two teams that needed overtime to be decided.
It was a tight battle throughout the first half with Melbourne leading just 19-17 at quarter-time and then 34-31 by half-time.
The Tigers did go on a 17-0 scoring run completed in the third quarter, though, to open up a game-high 13-point advantage but the Thunder were able to work back into the contest to set up the finish.
The Tigers were back out to an eight-point lead with 2:30 remaining following a three-point play from Cierra Dillard, but the Thunder weren’t going to throw away their lead atop the standings.
They cut the margin in half with buckets to Penina Davidson and Lilly Rotunno before Tera Reed knocked down a pair of free throws.
In the end, it was another free-throw from Reed that tied scores up with 30 seconds to go and neither team could break the deadlock from there with scores locked at 65-65 by the end of regulation.
It was then all Keilor in the overtime period with 12 points to five to see them win by that seven-point margin to make it seven consecutive wins and a 13-1 record on the season.

Carley Ernst knocked down five three-pointers to help the Waverley Falcons to a third straight win with the 81-57 road victory over the Nunawading Spectres.
The Falcons had started to build some momentum this season with the last two wins ahead of arriving at Nunawading Basketball Centre to take on a Spectres team trying to snap a four-game losing streak.
It was a remarkable opening to the game with Waverley scoring the first 19 points with Nunawading not able to score for more than the first five minutes until Tayha Watkins got them on the board.
However, that start set the tone for the evening with the Falcons ending up on 34 points to 16 at quarter-time.
Waverley would end up leading 47-25 at half-time and then went on with the job in the third quarter with another 27 points to 16 to open up a lead as big as 34 points early in the fourth.
Nunawading did at least finish the game well with 16 points to seven in the final period but Waverley still cruised to the 24-point win to make it three in-a-row to improve to a 5-8 record.
Carley Ernst did it in Game 3 of the WNBL Grand Final earlier this year and caught fire from deep again for the Falcons making 5/7 from behind the three-point line on the way to 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots.

Knox Raiders (76) defeated Kilsyth Cobras (74)
The Knox Raiders overpowered the Kilsyth Cobras in the final five minutes to score the thrilling 76-74 home victory against the bottom placed Kilsyth Cobras.
The Raiders were back home at Knox Basketball Stadium and despite it being second against last in the standings coming into Round 9 in the NBL1 South, it turned out to be quite the tremendous contest.
Knox did manage to lead 25-20 by quarter-time but Kilsyth stayed in touch and had cut that lead for the Raiders to just 40-37 at the main break.
Kilsyth then took charge during the third frame hunting a third win of the season going on a 12-0 scoring run to open up a 10-point advantage.
The Cobras were then still leading by nine points on the back of a pair of free throws from Sarah Haberfield with six minutes to play.

Bendigo Braves (75) lost to Ballarat Miners (76)
There's always that little bit of added feeling when the two teams do battle and Saturday night was no different with the Ballarat Miners escaping with the thrilling 76-75 win over the Bendigo Braves.
Ballarat arrived at Red Energy Arena sitting on top of the NBL1 South but winning in Bendigo is never an easy task and that would prove to be the case.
The Braves have been significantly more competitive since having Mitch Clarke, Andrew Robinson and Rowan Mackenzie all together in the line-up and it was a blow-for-blow contest throughout the night.
The Miners did keep on threatening to pull away from the Braves, but they could never quite do so despite leading by four points at quarter-time and three at half-time.
It was Bendigo who managed to open up a five-point lead in the third quarter, but then either side of three quarter-time it was Ballarat who went on a 17-0 scoring run to lead by a game-high 11 points.
Bendigo fired back once more, though, to set up the thrilling finish and Ballarat was back up four with 13 seconds remaining when Majok Majok grabbed the offensive rebound off his own miss and put it back in.
Mitch Clarke has already shown what he can do to pull off miracle comebacks including a remarkable game winning effort for the Perry Lakes Hawks in the NBL1 West last season so the ball was in no better hands for the Braves.
He knocked down a massive triple to bring it back to a one-point game with seven seconds remaining, but the problem for the Braves was they had too many fouls to give before sending Ballarat to the line to have one more shot at the winner.
It ended up using the remaining time with Bendigo trying to rack up the fouls and Ballarat would hold on for the one-point victory to improve to 10-3 on the season to remain in top spot.
Majok Majok delivered 17 points and 14 rebounds in the win for Ballarat with Tyler Rudolph contributing 11 points and five boards, Nick Stoddart 11 points, four assists and three rebounds, and Luke Rosendale nine points, four steals, three boards and two assists.
The Miners are now 6-9 on the season despite a strong showing against the league-leaders with Mitch Clarke finishing with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Rowan Mackenzie added 16 points, five assists, five steals and three rebounds, and Andrew Robinson 13 points and seven boards.
