Steph Reid, Lauren Scherf and Lou Brown proved quite the ominous trio as the Frankston Blues beat Dandenong Rangers in Friday night NBL1 South while Bryton Hobbs and Ngor Manyang led Diamond Valley Eagles over the defending champion Knox Raiders.
Friday night's women's results saw the Casey Cavaliers beat the Nunawading Spectres 72-63, the Frankston Blues defeat the Dandenong Rangers 89-79, the Keilor Thunder down the Mount Gambier Pioneers, the Knox Raiders win 88-59 over the Diamond Valley Eagles, and the Waverley Falcons beat the Sandringham Sabres 66-54.
The men's action then saw Nunawading beat Casey 92-77, Dandenong defeat Frankston 97-89, Mount Gambier down Keilor 80-64, Diamond Valley win 93-89 against Knox, and Sandringham beat Waverley 110-84.

Casey Cavaliers (72) defeated Nunawading Spectres (63)
The Casey Cavaliers bounced back from their Thursday night defeat to beat the Nunawading Spectres 72-63 at home on Friday.
Casey lost a two-point thriller to the Melbourne Tigers on Thursday night ahead of hosting the Spectres on Friday at Casey Stadium.
Alice Kunek was back in the line-up for the Cavaliers but she lasted less than 11 minutes into the game and it was a tight contest throughout the first half.
The Cavs were leading by just a point at quarter-time but it was the Spectres who produced 20 points to 15 in the second term to go into half-time leading 38-34.
Casey responded strongly in the second half and held Nunawading to just five points in the third quarter. The Cavaliers scored 20 points themselves and that was enough to set up the eventual nine-point victory.
The win improves the Cavs to a 4-10 record on the season with Taylah Simmons the star with 24 points, 11 rebounds and four assists on 10/15 shooting from the floor.
Alex Wittinger added 12 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks, Lauren Van Kleunen 11 points and nine boards, and Sharne Robati eight points and three rebounds.
The Spectres have now lost six straight at 2-12 with Rachel Antoniadou scoring 17 points to go with six assists and five rebounds.
Batabe Zempare added 17 points and 12 rebounds with Louise Forsyth contributing 16 points and two boards.
The Cavs will now host the Eltham Wildcats next Saturday night with the Spectres on the road to the Frankston Blues.

Dandenong Rangers (79) lost to Frankston Blues (89)
The star trio of Steph Reid, Lauren Scherf and Lou Brown were together for the first time at the Frankston Blues and combined for 70 points in the 89-79 win over the Dandenong Rangers.
The Rangers were back home at Dandenong Basketball Stadium attempting to bounce back from a loss to the Ringwood Hawks while the Blues arrived on the back of their own two-game losing slide.
However, Reid was back in the line-up for Frankston to join Scherf for the first time along with another WNBL championship winner Brown, and that trio would prove the difference between the two teams.
Frankston pushed out to a nine-point lead in the first quarter and were still on top 20-16 at the end of one before Dandenong turned the tide in the second period with 25 points to 15.
That saw the Rangers leading 41-35 at half-time on the back of scoring 17 consecutive points but the momentum swings continued and in the second half it stayed with Frankston once they worked on top.
Frankston ended up outscoring Dandenong 54 points to 38 in the second to score the 10-point win and to improve to 6-7 on the season as a result.
Steph Reid was back for the Blues and put up 33 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and two steals on 11/22 shooting from the field and 9/11 from the foul line.
Lauren Scherf also produced 24 points and eight rebounds, Lou Brown 13 points, eight boards, five steals and two assists, and Chelseas D'Angelo 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Dandenong is now 10-5 with back-to-back defeats with Ashten Prechtel delivering 19 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks with Nyadiew Puoch adding 17 points, seven boards and two assists.
Manuela Puoch also had 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists with Dallas Loughridge also having 12 points, three boards and three assists, and Teyla Evans 11 points, four rebounds and three assists.
The Rangers will be on the road to the Ballarat Miners next Saturday night with Frankston hosting the Nunawading Spectres.

Keilor Thunder (78) defeated Mount Gambier Pioneers (73)
The stars were back for either side and it was the Keilor Thunder holding out the Mount Gambier Pioneers for the 78-73 home victory.
Maddy Rocci, Penina Davidson and Issie Bourne were all in the line-up together for the Thunder at Keilor Stadium up against a Pioneers team regaining the services of Zitina Aokuso for the Friday night contest.
Mount Gambier made the better of the start on the road to lead early on by seven points, but then Keilor worked on top to end up leading 22-19 by quarter-time.
The Thunder then pulled further away in the second period with 19 points to 13 to go into the half-time break leading 41-32.
That lead got out to as much as 15 points in the favour of Keilor in the second half too and while the Pioneers threw everything into a late fightback, they couldn’t quite close the gap with the Thunder hold on for the five-point victory.
Keilor improves to 14-1 on the season with the eighth straight victory with Penina Davidson delivering 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists on 10/15 shooting from the floor.
Maddy Rocci added 21 points and four assists, Issie Bourne 15 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, and Lily Carmody 13 points, five boards, two steals and two blocks.
Mount Gambier is now 9-5 following the defeat which is a fourth straight loss with Zitina Aokuso returning and producing 20 points, 10 rebounds and two assists on 9/13 shooting.
Isa Brancatisano also had 19 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists, Sherrie Calleia 14 points, eight assists and five rebounds, and Haliegh Reinoehl 12 points and nine boards.
Keilor will be away to the Ringwood Hawks next Saturday night with the Pioneers on the road on Saturday to Kilsyth and Sunday to Diamond Valley.

Knox Raiders (88) defeated Diamond Valley Eagles (59)
The Knox Raiders maintained their hold on second position in the NBL1 South with the commanding 88-59 home victory against the Diamond Valley Eagles with Alicia Froling and Paige Bradley combining for 47 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists.
The Raiders were back home at Knox Basketball Stadium on a three-game winning run and scored 13 straight points in the first quarter on the way to a 14-point advantage.
Knox would end up leading 25-13 by quarter-time and then with another 33 points to 16 in the second term and the Raiders went into half-time leading 58-29.
From there the lead for Knox grew to 39 points in the third quarter when they completed a 20-0 scoring run before eventually scoring the 29-point victory.
The win sees the Raiders improve to a 12-2 record on the season with four consecutive wins with Alicia Froling starring once more with 24 points and 16 rebounds on 11/15 shooting from the floor.
Paige Bradley also had 23 points, seven assists and three rebounds on 5/9 three-point shooting while Kiera Rowe contributed 16 points, eight boards and four assists, Emily Fisher nine points and six rebounds, and Paige Burrows six points, seven assists and three boards.
Diamond Valley is now 4-9 on the season following the defeat with Abbey Ellis putting up 25 points, six rebounds and five steals.
Carly Turner added 15 points and four rebounds, Sophie Byrnes seven points, and Naomi Mbandu six points, six boards, two assists and two steals.
Knox remains at home to host the Bendigo Braves next Saturday night with Diamond Valley to host the Waverley Falcons.

Waverley Falcons (66) defeated Sandringham Sabres (54)
The Waverley Falcons produced a standout defensive effort to win a fourth straight match with the 66-54 victory against the Sandringham Sabres.
The Falcons were back on their home floor at Waverley Basketball Centre having won their past three matches as they looked to keep that momentum going albeit with the challenge ahead of a Sabres team on an 11-game winning run.
However, Sandringham were without Funda Nakkasoglu and the 21.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists she has been averaging on 39 per cent three-point shooting, and the Falcons were able to impressively lock them down.
While Waverley opened up a six-point lead during the first quarter, scores were level at 14-14 by quarter-time.
It was in the second stanza when the Falcons began to pull away with 22 points to 14 to go into half-time leading the Sabres 36-28.
Waverley pushed that advantage into double-figures throughout the second half before ending up scoring the 12-point victory while holding Sandringham to the 54 points on 29.7 per cent field goal shooting which included 4/17 from downtown and 17 turnovers.
The Falcons improve to 6-8 on the season with a fourth straight win with Renae Mokrzycki top-scoring with 14 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
Mckenzie Forbes also had 13 points and six rebounds, Carley Ernst 13 points, eight boards, four assists and two blocked shots, Amelia Todhunter 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals, and Bec Cole nine points, four boards, four assists and three steals.
Sandringham is now 11-3 on the season with that 11-game winning run coming to an end despite Eilidh Simpson top-scoring with 17 points and three rebounds.
Klara Wischer also had 11 points, 13 rebounds and three assists, Juna Umezawa 11 points and eight boards, and Hannah Wickstrom seven points, eight rebounds and three assists.
The Falcons will be on the road next Saturday night to the Diamond Valley Eagles with eh Sabres away to Tasmania to play the Chargers on Friday and Tornadoes on Saturday.

The Nunawading Spectres got back on the winner's list with the 92-77 road victory over the Casey Cavaliers.
The Spectres arrived at Casey Stadium having lost their past couple of games while the Cavs were fresh off a narrow loss on Thursday to the Melbourne Tigers to make it eight defeats in-a-row.
Nunawading managed to open up a 10-point lead in the first quarter and were still on top 29-22 at quarter-time.
The Spectres maintained that advantage throughout the second period as well and went into the half-time break leading 47-37.
Nunawading blew the game out further in the third quarter with their lead growing to as much as 19 points, and from there they were able to secure the 15-point victory.
The Spectres improve to 7-7 on the season with the win with Jalen Johnson delivering 20 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Jack Gandolfo added 17 points on 3/5 three-point shooting with Trendon Hankerson contributing 15 points, six assists and five rebounds, Kingsley Box 14 points and nine boards, Christian D'Angelo 10 points, and Nicolas Tata nine points.
The Cavs are now 2-12 on the season having lost nine straight despite Dillon Stith delivering 23 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
Adam Thoseby finished with 16 points, four rebounds and two blocks, Devin Watson 13 points and three assists, Anthony Karabatsos 10 points, four rebounds and three assists, and Preston Bungei six points, four boards and two assists.
The Cavs will now host the Eltham Wildcats next Saturday night with the Spectres on the road to the Frankston Blues.

Dandenong Rangers (97) defeated Frankston Blues (89)
Five three-pointers from Brandon Betson helped the Dandenong Rangers to the 97-89 home victory against the Frankston Blues.
The Rangers were back home at Dandenong Basketball Stadium on a three-game winning streak ahead of hosting a Blues team clinging to eighth spot after last week's 18-point win against the Ringwood Hawks.
It was an exciting opening to the contest with scores tied at 25-25 at quarter-time before Dandenong began to pull away in the second term with 19 points to 13 to go into the main break leading 44-38.
The Rangers then extended that advantage to 16 points in the third quarter and were able to hold out the Blues who put up 30 points in the final term for the eventual eight-point victory.
The win is a fourth straight for Dandenong who improve to 10-5 on the season as a result with Brandon Betson coming up big with 5/11 three-point shooting for 23 points and three assists.
Tad Dufelmeier added 19 points, six rebounds and six assists, Mason Peatling 19 points, 13 boards and three assists, Jacob Tryon 16 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots, and Puoch Puoch 13 points and 11 boards.
Frankston slips to 7-6 with the defeat with Daniel Trist tough to stop as he racked up the three-point play opportunities. He went a perfect 10/10 at the foul line too on his way to 24 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Lachlan Barker added 24 points on 5/8 three-point shooting for Frankston with Lucas Barker contributing 19 points and there assists, Igor Hadziomerovic 10 points and three rebounds, and Brad Newley 10 points and three boards.
The Rangers will be on the road to the Ballarat Miners next Saturday night with Frankston hosting the Nunawading Spectres.

Keilor Thunder (64) lost to Mount Gambier Pioneers (80)
The Mount Gambier Pioneers snapped their losing run in style on the road with the impressive 80-64 victory against the Keilor Thunder.
The Thunder were back home at Keilor Stadium having won their past two games and hosting a Pioneers team still sitting in the top four but having lost their previous two matches.
The Pioneers arrived on a mission, though, and by quarter-time had opened up the 27-18 advantage.
Mount Gambier's lead blew out to 18 points in the second quarter before they went into half-time on top 48-36.
The visitors maintained their advantage throughout the second half on the way to the eventual 16-point victory to snap the losing slide and improve to 10-4 on the season.
Nick Marshall top-scored in the win for Mount Gambier with 18 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Titus Robinson added 16 points, five rebounds and two blocks on 8/9 shooting with Akech Aliir putting up 13 points and eight boards, Christian Peevy 11 points and four rebounds, and Austin Shelley 11 points and three boards.
Keilor couldn’t make it three straight wins and slip to 9-6 on the season with Kyle Zunic leading the way with 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Trevor Lakes added 17 points and four rebounds on 5/12 three-point shooting with Junior Madut contributing 10 points and six boards.
Keilor will be away to the Ringwood Hawks next Saturday night with the Pioneers on the road on Saturday to Kilsyth and Sunday to Diamond Valley.

Knox Raiders (89) lost to Diamond Valley Eagles (93)
Bryton Hobbs came up huge once more and the Diamond Valley Eagles welcomed back Ngor Manyang in the 93-89 win over the defending champion Knox Raiders.
The Eagles were looking to back up last week's win over the Eltham Wildcats upon arrival at Knox Basketball Stadium with the Raiders still trying to build some momentum in their championship defence as well.
It was a tremendous contest all evening long too between the two talented line-ups even if they are both currently sitting outside a playoff position.
Even though the Eagles built a six-point lead during the first quarter, by the end of the opening period it was Knox narrowly leading 21-20.
The Raiders then managed to grow that lead out to 45-38 by the half-time break and then Knox was on top by a game high nine points during the third quarter.
However, Diamond Valley weren’t going away and thanks to 32 points in the fourth quarter, they were able to build their own eight-point lead and that proved a match-winning advantage.
The Eagles held out the Raiders in the finish to win by four and improve to 4-9 on the season with consecutive wins with Bryton Hobbs delivering a starring role made up of 26 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
Ngor Manyang has also returned to Diamond Valley to provide them another weapon and he put up 22 points and six rebounds while hitting 5/11 from three-point range.
Jock Perry added 21 points and 15 rebounds with 8/14 shooting from the floor and 3/4 from downtown.
Knox is now 7-7 on the season to remain outside of a playoff position with Austin Rapp having a big night made up of 26 points, nine rebounds and three blocks with 4/10 three-point shooting.
KJ Feagin added 21 points and seven assists with Brody Nunn contributing 16 points, two assists and two steals, Kyle Bowen 15 points, 15 boards, four assists and two steals, and Madut Akec nine points and three rebounds.
Knox remains at home to host the Bendigo Braves next Saturday night with Diamond Valley to host the Waverley Falcons.

It was the battle of two teams on six-game winning streaks but the Sandringham Sabres were dominant on the road with the 110-84 win over the Waverley Falcons.
The Falcons were back home at Waverley Basketball Centre on a six-game winning run as were the Sabres on the back of beating the Ringwood Hawks by 17 points on Thursday night.
That set up a tantalising Friday night contest and Sandringham were able to put up 32 points in the opening quarter to go into the quarter-time break leading 32-24.
The Sabres then pushed their lead out to 14 points in the second period, 23 in the third and 29 in the fourth on the way to the eventual 26-point victory against a Waverley team who had been sitting in second position in the standings.
It's a seventh consecutive win for Sandringham who improve to a 10-4 record on the season with Campbell Blogg delivering 24 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Tanner Krebs also had 21 points and nine rebounds while knocking down 4/8 from three-point range with CJ Asuncion-Byrd contributing 14 points, five assists, two rebounds and two steals, Dane Pineau 12 points and 10 boards, and Shea Ili 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.
The Falcons slip to a 9-5 record with their six-game winning run ending with Maurice Howard finishing with 20 points, three rebounds and three assists, and Matthew McCarthy 20 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
DJ Vasiljevic also had 12 points and three rebounds, and Malik Meunier eight points, six boards and five assists.
The Falcons will be on the road next Saturday night to the Diamond Valley Eagles with eh Sabres away to Tasmania to play the Chargers on Friday and North West Tasmania on Saturday.
