Australia’s greatest player and NBL1 East MVP front-runner Lauren Jackson is set for her fifth Olympic games in Paris later this year, Code Sports is reporting.
A potential trip to Paris would mean a remarkable 24-year gap since Jackson’s Olympic debut in Sydney in 2000.
Retiring in 2016 with a Hall of Fame resume, Jackson made her spectacular return to the court in 2022 during the inaugural NBL1 East season – taking home the conference MVP and inaugural championship.
Since her return with the hometown Albury-Wodonga Bandits, Jackson has gone on to win bronze for Australia in the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup, make a storied WNBL return and won her seventh league title with the Southside Flyers. She is in line to represent her country once again at the age of 43 in Paris.
Jackson is currently leading the country in scoring, with an absurd average of 34.7 points and 15.4 rebounds for the 18-0 Bandits, heading into the second last regular season round.
The Bandits will host the Bankstown Bruins today from 5:30pm AEST, streaming live via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App.
