The North Gold Coast Seahawks have signed Brisbane Bullets young gun Tamuri Wigness for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 North season.
Wigness is a Cairns junior who has had huge success throughout his junior representative career, representing Australia in 2017 at the FIBA U16 Asian Championships, where they won gold.
He was named as the starting point guard in the all-tournament team before then accepting a scholarship in 2017 to attend the NBA Global Academy in Canberra.
Wigness was also a part of the gold medal-winning Australian teams at the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship and the 2019 FIBA Oceania Under-18 Championship, as well as competing for his home nation at the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup and the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup.
Wigness has been with the Brisbane Bullets for the past two seasons and is looking to cement his spot within the NBL off the back of a huge NBL1 campaign with the Seahawks.
David Gurney has also committed to the men's team for the 2022 season.
Gurney was instrumental to the team’s success in QSL last year, being second in scoring in the league at 23 points per game.
His years of experience helped drive his team to being runners-up of the competition.
Gurney and his wife, Melissa, continue to be heavily invested in the Association off-court, being the Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the U14 Girls Teal team.
