Opal and WNBL star Shyla Heal has signed with the Sydney Comets for the 2023 NBL1 season.

In a surprise move, Heal moved from the Sydney Flames to the Townsville Fire mid-WNBL season.
She will now return to Sydney after the WNBL Finals where she will play with her former coach Shelley Gorman and a collection of Flames teammates such as Vanessa Panousis and Jada Crawshaw.
Last NBL1 season Heal played with the NBL1 North Northside Wizards, where she averaged 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the NBL1 North Finals team alongside Conference MVP Tiana Mangakahia.
Coming off the bench for the title-contending Fire, Hela is averaging 7.9 points and 1.6 assists as they head into game two of the Semi-Finals against the Perth Lynx.
