NBL1 Central star Tayla Brazel will miss the rest of the season with an ACL tear she suffered last Friday.
The 20-year-old Reigning Best Defensive Player was pegged as a Halls Medal contender this season, averaging 16 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.2 steals for the 7-4 Sabres heading into Round 11.
Her first ACL injury was in April of 2022, coming back to play her first full WNBL season with the Adelaide Lightning and represent Australia in the 2023 FIBA Women’s U19 World Cup.
On Instagram, Brazel explained how the injury occurred.
“During a training session on Friday, I went down with a knee injury,” she said.
“I later found out that I have torn my ACL again. As I have gone down this road before, I know I’ll come out stronger. I have the best support of family and friends behind me! I can’t wait to be back on the court.”
NBL1 Central will return after the King’s Birthday Long Weekend, on June 15 streaming live via NBL1.com.au, NBL1 App and Kayo Freebies.
