The men’s Eltham Wildcats will have to take down the second-on-the-ladder Frankston Blues on Saturday night. But despite their fifth-placed position, they’re quietly confident to deliver for the Eltham community.
Glover is relishing the chance to take down the Blues, who are riding an eight-game winning streak.
“It’s a great opportunity to try and take off a top team,” Glover told NBL Media.
“That will just help us grow with confidence if we can get through.”
Such is the competitiveness and tightness of NBL1 South, Glover believes all of the remaining sides are genuine title contenders.
“It’s a pretty open race, I think any of the four can win,” he said.
Glover has averaged 19.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists this season, as he prepares for a season in the NBL with his new South East Melbourne Phoenix side.
Glover spoke on his leadership role within the team, and the team’s mindset heading into the Preliminary Finals game against the Blues.
“I've just tried to be a leader and just basically say to have fun with it,” he said.
“It's not every day you get to go this far in a 19-team comp. At the end of the day we were sitting at 8-8 and we were just thinking about making playoffs, and here we are in the top four, so we’ve just got to enjoy it.”
NBL and Wildcats teammate, Owen Foxwell said the atmosphere of the Dreamstreet Lending Arena is going to make the match-up all the more interesting.
“I think last time we played there (Frankston) they always pack it in,” Foxwell said.
“They're really loud, they’ve also got great players. So every time you step on the floor, you want the best from every team and you want the best players to match up on. So that's what I'm most excited.”
Tip-off between the Wildcats and Blues is 7:30pm AEST on Saturday night. You can watch the game live and free on Kayo Freebies.
