Two-time NBL1 West MVP and reigning Finals MVP Alex Sharp has re-signed with the Rockingham Flames for the 2025 season.

After three seasons with the Willetton Tigers, where she led her team to the Grand Final each year, Sharp made the move to Rockingham to form a superteam alongside Robbi Ryan, Georgia Pineau, Emma Gandini and Nes’aya Parker Williams.

The Flames were outstanding, finishing with an 18-2 record and sitting atop the ladder at the end of the regular season. And Sharp was a large reason for it, averaging 16.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists in only 12 games due to injury.

In the Grand Final against the defending champion Cockburn Cougars, Sharp made her impact - scoring 19 points with 10 rebounds and six assists to claim the title – being named the Finals MVP as a result.

New head coach Lukas Carey explained that Sharp's signing was a priority for the club.

"Having Alex return to the flames this season was a priority for us. Her leadership, basketball skills and IQ will be key for on the floor, but her high quality personality, integrity and authenticity will hold us in good stead for this season off the floor," he said.

"Good people with the basketball skills of Alex are rare, we are excited to welcome her back."

Sharp is one of the West’s greatest players, coming into the 2025 season making four straight Grand Finals and as a two-time MVP, champion, Finals MVP and First-Team member. While outside of state basketball, she was named the WNBL’s Breakout Player this past season and has represented the Opals in the FIBA Asia Cup.

She will spend the rest of the current WNBL season with Geelong United after a season in Spain.

Sharp joins Emily Steven, Paris Spencer, Jordyn Darecy, Paris Duffield, Ava Davies, Chloe Napolitano, Ruby New, Ava O’Neill and Jess Jakens on the roster for 2025 thus far.
