Ally Bates returns to the Wildcats

The Eltham Wildcats are delighted to announce the return of Ally Bates to the squad for the upcoming NBL1 South 2024 season. Bates, a former junior player at the Eltham Wildcats brings a wealth of talent, experience, and a deep connection to the club.

Bates represented the Wildcats in junior domestic, junior championship and Big V State Championship before leaving to play college in the USA for six years where she averaged 13.ppg & 6.1rpg for Cal Poly Pomona in her final year.

“I am super excited to be returning to play NBL1 at Eltham,” exclaimed Bates.

“The club supported me all throughout my junior career, and coming back as a member of the team and community has already been so welcoming and enjoyable.”

Coach Matt Bongetti is thrilled to have the dynamic play making guard on his squad for the 2024 season for a multitude of reasons.

“Getting local players back to Eltham and getting a player like Ally return after a long college career is exciting. It is important for the junior Wildcats coming through to see the pathway personified in someone like Ally. On the court she is a vocal leader and an elite shooter who is going to add a lot to our group this season.”

Bates is expected to make a significant impact when the season tips off on April 6^th at Montmorency Secondary College against local rivals the Diamond Valley Eagles.
