Twenty-two year-old point guard Chelsea Apacible has re-signed with the Norwood Flames for the 2022 NBL1 Central season.
The fast, Philippine point guard burst onto the NBL1 scene in 2021.
Known for her quick transition play, on-ball defence and team play, Apacible will be looking to continue her development into season 2022.
After a season-high 10 points against the Central Districts, Apacible's confidence grew throughout the season and she was a solid option off the bench in the second half of the season.
Apacible was both reflective on 2021, but also focused for this year.
"We had a great run last season, but I’m coming into the 2022 season hungrier than ever, and ready to put in the hard work to help my team do even better," she said.
Her chemistry with Ally Wilson and Alek Akuen strengthened throughout the season, as the three bonded closely on and off court.
The team culture and chemistry is really important to success and it’s something that Apacible enhances in the playing group.
Coach Terry-Jo McNamara said she was thrilled to welcome back Apacible this year.
"Chelsea is an emerging young player who brings enormous energy and competitiveness to the team," McNamara said.
"She handles the ball well and works hard on developing her game and is totally committed to team success."
