The Melbourne Tigers have announced the appointment of senior coaches for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 South season.
In a ‘go local’ policy, each of the incoming coaches have previously coached in Tiger programs.
Former NBL legend Andrew Gaze will lead the men’s program.
He will be very ably supported by Jay Lomer and Av Bajram.
Warrick ‘Wazza’ Giddey takes the reins of the women’s team.
Another NBL legend with his singlet retired, Wazza has extensive experience coaching in elite programs.
He will be supported by the well credentialled Kelly Breazeale and young emerging coach, Courtney Gaze-Persson.
Tigers GM Chris Brooking said: "These appointments recognise the depth and influence of the Melbourne Tigers and their long history of developing coaches to the highest levels.
"Three current NBL coaches (Mitchell, Vickerman and Goorjian) are all products of the Tiger system.
"It is great to be able to recruit these people from within the Tiger family.
"The biggest challenge now may be scheduling training around Andrew’s heavy media commitments and Wazza’s determination to watch all son Josh’s NBA games!"
