In the Coles Express NBL1 Mental Health Round, Basketball Victoria made a donation to Lifeline, the official partner of the round, of $52,820 dollars to Australia’s leading suicide prevention service.

Opals captain Jenna O’Hea presented the cheque at the NBL1 South game between the Knox Raiders and Diamond Valley Eagles on Saturday.

NBL1 South League Manager Alison Cody said she is delighted with the way everyone in the basketball community got involved.

“We are delighted by our local community’s response to support the orange sock initiative,” she said.

“We are really pleased to be able to donate such a large amount to Lifeline Australia, who continue to do such amazing work for those in need.

“Basketball Victoria and the NBL1 South are looking forward to working with them again.”

Lifeline CEO Colin Seery said the funds raised would help the organisation do what it does best and ensure people could get help when and where they need it.

“The incredible support of the NBL1 and its generous supporters and community continue to show that they are alongside us in making sure nobody in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone."
