Centre of Excellence product Bonnie Deas is set to take over in the NBL1 East after a dominant performance in the U20s Nationals.

After leading Victoria to a first-placed finish over NSW, Deas was named the Bob Staunton Most Valuable Player for the women’s tournament, averaging 20.5 points for the event.

With a number of players graduating, the 17-year-old will now fill the role as the star of the team.

“This is Bonnie Deas year,” Lachy France said on the East Got Game podcast

“She was absolutely lights out at 20’s this year… she just looked next level. If you are worried about who’s going to worry about who’s going to replace all these graduating great players, Bonnie’s the one prime to step up for CoE this year.”

During the 2023 NBL1 East season, Deas played 12 games averaged 7.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and shot 36 per cent from three on the Finals team.

CoE starts its season this weekend after the U18’s Nationals Championships tournament.

They’ll take on Albury-Wodonga Bandits on Friday, streaming live from 6:00pm AEST via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App.
