The Frankston Blues (FDBA) are delighted to announce the re-signing of Brad Newley for the next two years. The forward, has agreed to a contract that will see him don the Blues' jersey throughout the 2024 and 2025 NBL1 South seasons.

Having averaged 17 points and 5.8 rebounds per game during this year’s season, Newley has been a key contributor to the team's success. His on-court performance and leadership qualities have made him an asset to the program.

Assistant Coach (responsible for player recruitment), Adam Jackson, expressed his admiration for Newley, stating, "Brad's experience on the courts and in the locker-room has been instrumental in the development of our young players. His leadership qualities and wealth of knowledge have had a significant impact on the growth of our program."

Speaking about his decision to continue his journey with the Frankston Blues, Newley spoke about the Frankston basketball community. “It’s been really good fun. It's a great community here in Frankston. I like coming out and playing in front of all the juniors and the supporters. We've got a good atmosphere here and they really get behind the team”.

Newley also praised Head Coach Andrew Harms and his long-standing connection with him. "Yeah, I've really enjoyed playing for Harmsy. I've known him for quite a while. We grew up playing against each other in the state systems. He kind of gives a lot of freedom to his players. He trusts what we do, but at the same time puts some really good things in place.”

Also expected to return to the bench next year is Newley’s young son Charlie. “Charlie is the assistant-assistant team manager, so I tend to spend the second half of the women's games lining up to buy hot chips for the kids, instead of preparing for the game, so little bit a different to the NBL”.

Newley will be re-joining the ranks of returning contracted players Daniel Trist, Lachlan Barker, and Lucas Barker, solidifying the team's core. Frankston Blues will be making further signing announcements in the very near future.
