Brisbane Capitals re-sign major piece

After an electric start to NBL23, Lachlan Dent has re-signed with the Brisbane Capitals for the 2023 NBL1 season.

After an electric start to NBL23, Lachlan Dent has re-signed with the Brisbane Capitals for the 2023 NBL1 season.

Dropping a career-high 19 points against the Sydney Kings in Round 1, the Hawks development player grew his confidence with the Capitals and took it straight into the NBL season.

In a feature with NBL.com.au, Dent explained what playing with Brisbane did for his confidence.

“Getting out and playing NBL1 in the off-season was really cool, because it made me get a bit of a better feel for the game and figure out who I am and how I want to do it,” he said.

“It’s helped me just play every day with a bit more confidence. Anybody who knows me will tell you I’m an overthinker, so I’ve been trying to limit that and push my thinking into other areas that are more positive for me moving forward.

“There were times [with Brisbane] where, yeah, it was a nice to feel like I could do it, and I could do it at a high level. It was more about having conversations with the people around me and being able to grow my own game. That’s the biggest thing I took away from it.”

In the 2022 season, Dent averaged 18 points, five assists and four rebounds for the Capitals as one of the most consistent threats in the NBL1 North.

Dent now joins Nick Stoddart, Anthony Kopikas, Tim Soong and Geordan Papacostas for the 2023 NBL1 men’s Brisbane Capitals squad.
