After a season in the NBL1 West, Casey Samuels is returning to the Central District Lions for the 2024 season.
Last season Samuels moved to the Rockingham Flames, where she averaged 19.5 points with a season-high of 33 points against the East Perth Eagles.
The Flames made the Preliminary Finals but fell short to the Willetton Tigers, where Samuels scored 23 points in the three-point loss to the historically successful Tigers.
Samuels now returns to her 2022 club in the Lions, where she’ll join NBL1 Central superstar Jasmin Fejo – making one of the best duos early in free agency.
Coach Joe Noone said Samuel's signing is a reinforcement of the rebuilding philosophy the club has undertaken in their off-season.
“It’s a massive sign for where we are heading as a women’s program, that we are able to get Casey back to the Lion’s Den, where she had a great season for us in 2022,” he said.
“As a squad, we look forward to her joining us and helping drive us forward with her intensity, commitment and scoring ability. We are intent on building something special and with Casey and Jasmin Fejo, it is just the start."
Samuels added she is excited to rejoin the Lions for 2024.
“I am so excited to be back with Centrals,” she said.
“I love this club and what they are trying to build, and this is something I want to continue to be a part of”.
She will play for the Bendigo Spirit in this coming WNBL season, alongside NBL1 Central Finals MVP Ally Wilson.
