Logan Thunder Men’s Captain Michael Cedar will return for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 North season in what will be his seventh season for Thunder.
Having played 100 State League games, Cedar is now one of the most capped senior players in Thunder history and also in the NBL1 North league-wide.
Prior to joining the Thunder Family at the end of 2015, Cedar played 219 NBL games for the Townsville Crocs and has now played over 250 state league games (Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone - ABA, Super League, QBL, QSL, NBL1) in an impressive 20-year State League career.
Cedar is employed by Basketball Queensland and works as the Indigenous Pathways Manager South delivering the Indigenous Community Basketball League in partnership with Indigenous Basketball Australia at the Cornubia Park Sports Centre.
He had this to say about returning for the Logan Thunder: "Having been around for a long time in basketball at this level, my love for the game is probably stronger than ever.
"Even though the body may not explode as I want it to, I can still play the game well.
"Coming off a semi-final loss last year, it has been a motivation-filled off-season to come back better than we were last season.
"Coming to Logan at the end of 2015, I was able to see an impressive bunch of young boys playing U14s for Logan and you could see that all they wanted to do was progress through and play for the Thunder Men’s team and last season to see that same bunch of young men come into the team and play games, that’s what being a family club is all about- celebrating those milestones for that next generation and understanding the importance of everyone in the squad, 1-15 players, coaches, managers.
"We don’t succeed like last year without our full squad and QSL players who fill in during pre-season.
"We appreciate the coaches' time and effort to have us ready and the thankless job that being a manager can sometimes be.
"If we all come back knowing that we won’t succeed without each other, I know our success will be the same.
"Every year, we come back bigger and better and 2022 will be no different.
"We all have unfinished business, and we need everyone in the Thunder Family to help us get that trophy and banner."
Cedar averaged 12.9 points, 2.5 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game shooting the ball at 44.5 percent in 2021.
