The Nunawading Spectres have locked in a major piece of their future, announcing that NBL1 South Youth Player of the Year Christian D’Angelo has re-signed for the NBL1 South 2026 season.

D’Angelo’s rise has been one of the standout stories of the past two years. After claiming the Spectres’ NBL1 Coaches Award in 2024, he elevated his game again in 2025, earning the Spectres’ NBL1 MVP and delivering a true breakout campaign.
Across the 2025 season, he averaged 19.37 points, 4.26 rebounds, and 1.68 assists, showcasing his scoring punch, composure, and impact on both ends of the floor.

His performances were rewarded with selection to the NBL1 South Select Team, suiting up in the preseason showcase against the Adelaide 36ers, as well as a training player opportunity with Melbourne United in the NBL.

Head Coach Andrew Cutler said the club is thrilled to retain one of its brightest young stars.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Christian back for another season. He’s a great example of development progression for young players, and we’re looking forward to continuing that progression with him this year.”

D’Angelo, who was officially named the NBL1 South Youth Player of the Year for 2026, returns to Nunawading with momentum, leadership growth, and the chance to build on a career-best season as the Spectres shape their 2026 roster.

The NBL1 South 2026 season tips off on Friday 27th March 2026. For all the latest updates, including player signings, coaching appointments and league news, make sure you’re following NBL1 South on Facebook and Instagram.
