Clarke declares "unfinished business" for the Hawks

After a dominant season with the Perry Lake Hawks, Emma Clarke has re-signed for the 2023 NBL1 season.

After a dominant season with the Perry Lake Hawks, Emma Clarke has re-signed for the 2023 NBL1 season.

"[There is] definitely some unfinished business from last season," said Clarke, after scoring 26 points and losing to the Cockburn Cougars in the first round of the NBL1 West Finals.

Clarke averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season with her junior club and is ready to run it back for 2023.

"Craig Mansfield is a high-quality coach who I know will hold me to a high standard and challenge me in all areas,” she said.

"I also love the club and the community."

The 22-year-old is confident the upcoming campaign with the Hawks can be her best yet, after a strong first year with the Sydney Flames.

"I've definitely learnt a lot this season under our coaches - both in training sessions and in games," Clarke said.

"With more opportunity on the court, the WNBL experience will be a big asset going back to NBL1 West."

When she returns out west, Clarke has specific personal and team goals for the season, which tips off for her Hawks on Friday, March 31 against East Perth Eagles.

“The ultimate goal for me personally is to keep developing and growing every season,” she said.

“So I’m going to do everything I can to lead the Hawks to success week in, week out - in particular, the ability to create for myself and my teammates as well as being a lockdown defender.

“For the team we have, a top-four finish is definitely something we can achieve.”
