The Tasmania JackJumpers' championship party travelled to the Coast on Sunday, April 7, with diehard supporters marching to get a glance of the historic silverware.

Coach Scott Roth and captain Clint Steindl spoke to the few hundred people in attendance at the paranaple arts centre in Devonport about their inaugural NBL championship series win.  Steindl highlighted the importance of bringing the championship trophy to the region, while holding high regard for North-West Jackies fans.  "This trophy is going to be talked about for generations to come," Steindl said.  "Our supporter base has been absolutely amazing and up here in the North and North-West are some of the most passionate sporting fans there is in the state.  When we get to spend our week up here in pre-season and play those pre-season games, the energy at Ulverstone and around the town is truly amazing."

A week has lapsed since the JackJumpers made history in a nail-biting decider against Melbourne United.  Boyd McCarthy was one of the many passionate fans in attendance and was blown away by what the JackJumpers have achieved in a short amount of time.  "We've been with the JackJumpers since the start. We were out camping and watched it on mum's phone connected to a speaker," McCarthy said. "It is really big to show what Tassie can do and how big we can rally around our teams."

Celebrations also formed part of the North West Thunder's first game of the season on Saturday night, with fans sticking around post-match at Ulverstone for photos with Roth and the trophy.  The Thunder got their season off on a high, defeating the Hobart Chargers 85-61 in round one NBL1 South action.

Paul Campbell (18 points), Seth Swalve (17 points) and Jake Afoa (15 points) contributed heavily, giving coach Sam Armstrong a perfect start to the season.

The Thunder will face Waverley Falcons in their round two clash on Friday, April 12 in Launceston.
