The Sandringham Sabres have locked in their first player signing for the NBL1 South 2026 season, with star forward Lucy Cochrane confirmed to return.
Standing tall at 6’6, Cochrane has been a dominant presence in the paint for the Sabres, renowned for her rim protection, rebounding strength, and inside scoring ability.
Across the NBL1 South 2025 season, the 24-year-old averaged 13.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game.
Cochrane also brings international FIBA experience, having represented Australia at the 2016 FIBA U17 Women’s World Championship and the 2015 FIBA U16 Oceania Championship, where she helped the national team claim gold.
Beyond the numbers, Cochrane’s leadership and toughness continue to set the tone for Sandringham, bringing a competitive edge and presence that elevate those around her.
With Cochrane recommitted, the Sabres have taken their first major step toward shaping another strong campaign in 2026.
