Cockburn sign college star Taj Benning

The NBL1 West Cockburn Cougars have signed 2021 MAAC Men's Basketball All-Championship Team player Taj Benning. He was a key piece in Fairfield Stags making the Championship game where they were runners-up in the 2021 season.

Captaining three seasons for the Stags, he started every game he played in for his last two college seasons,  averaging 11.5 points and 4.6 rebounds. 

Via Instagram, head coach Andrew Cooper is excited to bring him on board. 

"Taj is a player that can get into the paint and still have a perimeter game. He is tough and plays both ends and ticks all the right boxes for us in the sense of what we want within our program," he said.

"Taj is a leader, talented, driven and eager to do what he can to help us win games. I see a bright future for Taj and he will have a big impact in this league."

Bennings shared the same level of excitement and says he's ready to being a championship to Cockburn. 

"I'm extremely excited to join the Cockburn Cougars. I'm looking forward to having a positive impact in the community and doing whatever it takes to bring the Cougars a Championship" he said.
